[ PORTFOLIO · CASE STUDY ]TREE SERVICE · PIKEVILLE, NC

30 years of tree work. A website that finally shows it.

Tree Works has been taking down trees around Goldsboro, NC since 1996, with their own bucket truck, excavator and stump grinders and a 4.8-star rating on Google. Their website showed a stock photo of logs. We rebuilt it around what they actually do.

The problem

A pine leaning over the roof. Then they open the website.

Someone in Goldsboro searches “tree removal near me” and finds Tree Works. Nothing was wrong with the work. The website just wasn't showing any of it.

The old site's Projects button led to a Page not found error

The old Projects button

  1. 01

    A stock photo of logs.

Not their trucks, not their crew. Nothing showed they had the equipment for a big job.

  2. 02

A phone number for a headline.

Plus one short paragraph. About 159 words on the whole home page.

  3. 03

A Projects button that went to “Page not found.”

The real projects page sat at a different address, so the one place to see their work was a dead end.

  4. 04

No page for any service or any town.

Nothing for Google to match to “stump grinding Goldsboro” or “tree service Pikeville.”

  5. 05

    Slow on a phone.

2.3 MB and about 8 seconds before the main content showed. That’s where most people searching for a tree service are.

  6. 06

    The best proof was hidden.

Six job videos — a crane lifting pines over a house, a drone shot of a lot being cleared — buried on a page few people reached.

What we built

Built around the crew, the trucks and the jobs.

Kickoff to live on their own domain in about two and a half weeks.

01

A site that shows the work.

  • Their own fleet across the top of the home page, not stock
  • The owner and the 30-year story up front: family-run, local, not a franchise
  • The six job videos turned into projects you can watch, plus three more from a photo shoot on site
  • The real Tree Works logo, straight off the trucks
02

A site Google can match to searches.

  • A page for every service: removal, trimming, stump grinding, lot clearing, brush, storm damage, small excavation, firewood
  • Town pages for Goldsboro and Pikeville, written about those places
  • Three plain-English guides: what removal costs, grinding vs. removal, which trees fall in Eastern NC storms
  • Business details marked up for Google, and old Wix links redirected so nothing already indexed broke
03

A site that turns a visit into a call.

  • Phone number and Free Estimate on every screen, with a call bar fixed to the bottom on phones
  • Every estimate button jumps straight to the form
  • Customers attach photos of the tree from their phone, so the owner sees it before he calls back
  • Every request in the owner’s inbox within seconds, with a tap-to-call button and spam filtered out
04

A site the owner can run.

  • Services, projects, photos, firewood prices and hours all editable, with a preview before publishing
  • A storm banner he can switch on after a hurricane: “Storm damage? We’re taking calls now.”

Measured, not guessed.

Old site measured the day before the switch, new site two days after. Performance scores are Lighthouse lab tests on a simulated mid-range phone and move a couple of points run to run.
